Meet The Team

Sophia S.
Founder and CEO
Sophia Spencer is a Sophomore at Brentwood School in Los Angeles, California. In her free time you can find her playing tennis on the varsity team, surfing at Zuma Beach, or diving into a new chapter of a book. Sophia loves learning new concepts, hanging out with her friends, playing piano and getting to play as many sports as possible. Sophia wants to share her love of reading with others, so she created Reading Together in third grade at Mirman School, during the 2020 COVID pandemic lockdown. Reading became a passion for Sophia and she started reading every second she had a chance. Her goal is to help others enjoy reading and expand their comprehension skills.

James P.
Literacy Coach
James is a Sophomore at Pacifica Christian High School and takes summer classes at Santa Monica College (SMC). James joined the Reading Together Team in the summer of 2026. He enjoys volunteering at the YMCA and giving back to his community. In his free time, James runs cross country, plays basketball, and enjoys hanging out with his friends. He is always looking for ways to improve and challenge himself.
Ever since he was little, James has enjoyed reading because it's a fun way to relax and learn something new. He likes books that are interesting, make him think, or teach him something he didn't know before. James hopes to encourage younger readers to build confidence and discover books they'll actually enjoy reading.
