Sophia Spencer is a Sophomore at Brentwood School in Los Angeles, California. In her free time you can find her playing tennis on the varsity  team, surfing at Zuma Beach, or diving into a new chapter of a book. Sophia loves learning new concepts, hanging out with her friends, playing piano and getting to play as many sports as possible. Sophia wants to share her love of reading with others, so she created Reading Together in third grade at Mirman School, during the 2020 COVID pandemic lockdown. Reading became a passion for Sophia and she started reading every second she had a chance.  Her goal is to help others enjoy reading and expand their comprehension skills. She offers 30 minute to an hour sessions online and in person for FREE to kids in preschool through 5th grade.

Why Reading is Important

Reading is important because it expands the mind.  Reading helps you learn more about what is  around you, the world, and  how you see things. Every time you read you are  learning something new.  Reading helps your brain grow more and more. Reading is great because it can strengthen your brain, develop cognitive skills, improve your vocabulary and communication skills. Reading can even turn into your new every day hobby!

Testimonials

"My daughter sought help from Sophia to address weaknesses in reading, reading comprehension, and writing. From the very first session, Sophia made a remarkable impression. Not only was my daughter enthusiastic about her upcoming reading and writing assignments, but she was also inspired to develop an interest—and even a love—for subjects she had previously avoided.

Sophia is a patient, methodical, and highly organized tutor who meets students exactly where they are academically. She tailors her approach to each student’s needs and thoughtfully recommends supplemental reading materials to further strengthen specific areas of growth.

I highly recommend Sophia to any family seeking a knowledgeable, encouraging, and effective tutor."
